I am new to climbing and looking to get a shoe for indoor climbing and would like anyone's input! |
|
How did you choose these three? do you own any other shoes? |

5.10 Moccasyms |
|
That is the most random trio of shoes ever. I second the mocassyms. |

If you live somewhere that has a gear store, where you can try shoes on, I would definitely recommend trying them on before you buy them. Since you're a beginner, you probably don't need really fancy shoes, but you do need shoes that fit. Some climbing shoes are more aggressive than others, but the most important thing is fit. I could climb much better in a beginner shoe from La Sportiva than an aggressive shoe from 5.10 because 5.10s don't fit my feet. Good luck! |

All very helpful! Thank you! |

I say go with a pair of Mocs, preferably of the 'super' variety. |

If your just getting into climbing, go with a cheap shoe. Poor footwork is common with almost all beginners. You will burn through an expensive pair of shoes very quickly. Also, learn good footwork with a flat rand and your footwork will be amazing later when you go to a more aggressive rand system shoe. Don't go crazy on the downsizing of the shoe. This will also kill the life of a shoe to a point that it will be un-resoleable. I often see the Kaos on SteepandCheap.com if cost is an issue. If you find your foot is too narrow for most shoes, go with a lace up because it will give you the best/tightest fit for the entire foot. |

Go to your nearest climbing shop and try on every shoe they have. But the pair that fits. Price is irrelevent if your toenails fall off. |
