LOOKING FOR SOME BOULDERING SHOES.
SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE AWESOME.

Personally I like the 5.10 Team's for bouldering and overhanging sport climbs. Though if I had a choice I would wear the La Sportiva Solution. I can't wear the Solution because of my foot shape- but I think it's by far a more attractive shoe. But the Team is very aggressive and has a thin sole. The downside to the Team is that it's quite difficult to get into.

Yea my feet are wide.
I was considering getting mad rock con-series for boulering, Im not sure where to go for wide footed people though or where to look? any ideas

AWESOME!
I THINK IM GONNA CHECK OUT THE SOLUTION FOR SURE. WILL IT FIT A WIDE FOOT ? I RUN INTO THIS TROUBLE QUIT OFTEN . THE KNUCKELS OF MY FEET ARE WIDE SO ITS SOMETIMES HARD TO FIND THE RIGHT FIT.
THANKS FOR ALL THE SUGGESTIONS SO FAR!

WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING!!??!!

Sportivas are not usually associated as being a shoe for people with wide feet, I'll bet you'll have better luck with Five-Ten.

BECAUSE I WANT EVERYONE TO HEAR ME!!
would any of the five tens fit comfortable you think ? at least a better fit then other brands

5.10 Dragon. Super aggressive, awesome rubber, and good for wide footers like myself.

I'm a wide footer too and long time Five-Ten guy. Tried Sportivas repeatedly, they always seem to make some part of my foot hurt.

I use the Mad rock con-flicts, they are a good shoe for general climbing, but the full rubber toe means less feel, however its great for wide feet like mine. The heel cup is a little slick and even though they are a size smaller, my feet sweat and the shoe won't hold a heel hook.

Are you not the same guy who started the 'Sponser Me' thread? I guess you should have free shoes coming your way soon.

I'd say try out Evolve. or the 5.10 Moccasin. they are leather and stretch a fair amount.

Don't listen to Trey he's gay. LOL. I have a pair of Red Chilie Matadors. Great bouldering shoe. Agressive and comfortable. Takes a good bit to wear the rubber down to where it's got it's full stick. Seems like it would fit a fat foot fine.

Evolves are not great. The rubber seems to last a bit longer but isn't as sticky. Anasazis. 5.10 is perfect for the wide-footed, and if you can't climb it in Anasazis you probably can't climb it. Some people like a more downturned shoe, but unless you're climbing V8 plus is it really going to make a difference? Maybe if you climb a lot of pocketed roofs.

I love my Evolv shoes. I'm only bouldering v5, but I haven't had a problem with grip yet. Optimus Prime shoes fit me really well, and I have crazy wide feet. Also, I like the downturn for everything overhanging, even if it's not super overhung. I guess to each their own.

Whatever gets you up the wall, right!

Shoes and chalk are cheating anyway.

I don't have a lot of bouldering experience but I can add my $.02 about Evolvs. I've been climbing indoors only for the last 4 months and feel comfortable on 6a+ and 6b projects and started in a pair of Evolv Defy's and have recently changed to the Predators. The Predators are very aggressive but after 4 days in the gym they fit my fit fairly comfortably. I have the same size in both shoes but the Predators are much snugger.

I have found the Predators to edge a lot better and stick better to little toe holds and any thing overhanging but they don't smear as well for me.

I don't think I have super wide feet but they are definitely wider than most.

Anyone use KSO five fingers? Would they be adequate?

Rob Gordon · · Hollywood, CA · Joined Feb 2009 · Points: 115

You can climb in whatever shoes you want, but no, they would not be adequate. My 5.10 approach shoes would climb a grade or two harder. The rubber isn't the right quality, shape of the big toe isn't right for small foot features, and you can't edge on your outside toes at all really.

Save yourself the misery and just buy even a cheap pair of climbing shoes. Used is fine if there is a lot of rubber still left on the toe and it isn't coming apart. For bouldering the shoe needs to be uncomfortably tight. A brand new shoe for most serious boulderers can usually only be worn for 1 climb before the pain is unbearable. Even non-stretch synthetic shoes settle so you can wear them longer. This is why they make slip ons and Velcro shoes. My recommendation would be a pair of 5.10 Moccassyms. They are very comfortable and conform to your feet (nice because your feet won't understand why you hurt them so at first). Not too expensive. They stretch so go small. 1 size below street shoe or so.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
