Wow Narc. Was it worth it?

Hmm. I'm not sure I'd make a habit of doing that much hiking to try one problem but it was certainly an enjoyable afternoon of solitary exploration. Only thing I saw all afternoon were a couple of startled whitetails.

Nice Brian, cool map to see the actual distance between the two. It is easier to hike up to the Ejaculator from the bottom, that is if you can find the trail. You didn't happen to find a black Organic chalk bag coming down did you?

Yeah it's really not that far of a hike to the top of the cliff I suppose. That's a negative on seeing any chalk bags but I was sort of in a delirious state from all the hiking and bushwhacking I did to find the ejaculator so my main goal was just to get back to stable ground.

I was surprised by how quickly I made it to the Reserve since my memory was of it taking forever (hadn't been there in 10 years). I think if you knew exactly where you are going it is a relatively casual 20-30 minute hike. Never did see the turn off for that arete problem so I'll just have to go back :)

You mean Amazing Pillar? Yeah that one is hard to find, it seems. In retrospect, I/we must have walked right by it and not seen it. Can't be *that* amazing. :)

Yep, that's the one. I kept looking for the log in Remo's beta picture but I got a bit off trail about half way out and never came across it before I got to the Reserve proper. Meant to look for it on the way back but I went to ejaculator instead and couldn't muster up the energy to go back.

This summer we went to the reserve for a few, then to boomtown for a while, then to the ejaculator(looking for the chode in between with no luck) then down and back to our cars at the Reserve parking lot. With the new coordinates, there should be a south bluff circuit trail which links all the areas. Its an easy walk from the reserve to boomtown(which has a couple of classics; buzz bomb, jones roof, & birthday prow to name a few. A bunch of us will be up there bouldering on the 1st weekend of december for the annual day of the dead bouldering gathering. You all should join.

This shows a very rough outline of the path I took to find this boulder yesterday.

I started at the West Bluff lot and hiked to the Reserve which is maybe halfway along the green line (could be wrong). From the reserve I forged east along the top of several talus fields, dropping into most of them way before I needed to. Unlike the clean talus of the West and East bluffs, most of the talus I encountered was dirty, unstable and a real pain in the ass. The Ejaculator is a decent trip down so I'd recommend staying higher (more south) and in the woods. You can use the lake as your guide as you have a sense of where it is the whole time. You can start looking for the Ejaculator on your left once you've passed the eastern edge of the lake and the south shore parking lots are due north of you.

To get down from the ejaculator I went downhill and trended slightly left coming out on South Shore drive just to the east of the southern most lot of the south shore. If you were to reverse this trip you could walk east out the southeast corner of this lot and look for a drainage pipe on your right. From there start questing up into the woods in a southeasterly direction. You won't be able to see the Ejaculator until you are all the way on top of the bluff. It wasn't fun coming down so I don't imagine it's too fun going up...
