The caption might be a bit misleading. While there's lots of lichen and moss on the upper reaches of the Carpet Slab; where the climbs go is usually pretty clean - either naturally (because water run off is deflected) or from use, sometimes with brushing. Also, most climbs don't go to the top, but to rap-off anchors.
