Big Cams: BD vs Wild Country

Looking into getting a couple big guys and have heard that WC may be better than BD's because they are wider, thus more stable. Specifically thinking of the two biggest (5 and 6 BD's). Whaddya think?

Can't go wrong with either, although I think the BD's are smoother, and I've heard more than one person say they regretted going WC over BD, but NEVER heard anyone say a negative word about the BD's.

The BD's are definitely smoother..the WC take a bit more pull to contract.

That being said I have both!

In the really big sizes I prefer the WC, I think they are more stable. I have both and always reach for a WC over a BD when I can.

Another vote for the WC in the larger sizes. FYI though that the #6 are no longer made and the used market is difficult to find. Looks like they are revamping the WC Tech Friend line though and re-introducing the #6 as well (along with some new features).

Both?

I think it really depends on what you want. If you're an OW lover you're likely to end up with doubles or more of 4+ size cams. Having variation of brand is awesome then. If you're doing 30 feet of OW then you get whatever. If you dream of Road Warrior then I think having at least one more stable WC is nice as you climb past it and try not to kick it out.

I have about anything made big. Also try Rock Empire big sizes. Much cheaper cost, and with flex cam cable, easy to place. They're all good I say.

John,
What is this Helium Cam incarnation of which you speak?
