For those who know the names Bradford Washburn and Bob Bates you already know the epic story of survival as these two friends and members of the Harvard Mountaineering Club found themselves summitting Mt. Lucania in Alaska, the then highest unclimbed peak in North America. With their pilot unable to return they found themselves stranded, more than 100 miles away from the nearest town and without adequate food caches. Walking through uncharted territory....well, you'll need to read Dave Roberts' book and join the discussion at Book Club Fight Club to find out.
Group meets at 6 PM at the AAC Library downstairs in the American Mountaineering Center, 710 10th St., Golden. More information available at American Alpine Club Library
