Assuming something hasn't been climbed at Stoney is a pretty big assumption.

Yup, big time! Which is why I did my research. Not in ANY guidebook (which by itself doesn't mean much I admit), I'm closely connected with people who have been climbing at the Point for 30 years who say it's never gone, PLUS it was obvious when working the line that it hadn't been done, because of the vast amount of choss we pulled off, which anyone who would have done it prior would have HAD to pull off. Not to mention the thing is fucking STOUT!

Also, I'm currently making a documentary on the history of climbing at Stoney Point and have done more research on the subject than I care to admit. Look for my article on Stoney Point in Climbing magazine this coming Fall.

First ascents at Stoney Point are a big time rarity these days, which is why I named the route "Last of the Mohicans."

Sweet. I just couldn't imagine Bachar would miss that line - it being so close to the road. Looks like his sort of thing. Can't wait to get on it at some point if I ever actually buy a rope... does the TR protect the overhung section or is it basically a boulder problem till the face? Any luck on Daniel Day Lewis?

Let us know about the documentary. Sounds cool.

This rock is home to Stoney Point's newest route/top rope/boulder problem. It's unbelievable that this boulder's plum route hadn't been climbed till recently. The left arete, tentatively named "Daniel Day Lewis" has yet to go.
