Hey everyone,
I was at practice rock this evening (Friday), well practicing...

I found a piece of gear on the bottom slab area, that appears to have just fallen off of someone's harness/gear sling. Please PM me to identify and you shall have it back.

P.S. I just so happens to be my favorite piece of gear as well, so if no one claims it I will be really happy about getting to add another one of these to my rack!

P.S.S. Is that wrong of me?

No. Most people would just add it to the rack without giving the previous owner the chance to get it back. Found gear is pretty sweet. I remember extracting a brand new red C4 that was pretty stuck on a route--I was psyched. I didn't try to find the owner on that one. That was booty, fair and square.

But I've probably cleaned half a rack's worth of gear off the 1st Flatiron over the years, and typically put up a message about it. Several "booty" threads on this forum show that most climbers think it's fine to keep found gear. So, if you feel like giving people a chance to get it back--good on you, but you aren't obligated to do so.

So you are saying I should climb the 1st more often. :)

I find so much shit when I am bouldering. I found an extremely nice pair of oakleys sitting on top of a block in the Flatirons yesterday, and I am definitely keeping those bad-boys:)

Bottom line: I'm not an asshole, but its not my responsibility to baby-sit the rich-ass yuppies that frequent some of these places.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
