I'll be rolling through town in about a week and a half with my wife for a few days. Aside from bouldering at Turtle Lake and Sailing Hawks, I am looking for some recommendations for hikes (nothing too long), swimming holes, food and coffee shops, festivals, etc. Basically anything to fill the day between morning and afternoon bouldering sessions. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

And when I was in town 5 or 6 years ago we descended Cascade Creek from above the climbing area, and finished right there at the waterfall by the climbing area. It was a blast and I'd love to do it again, but I was wondering if the water level would be high enough to do this again in late Sept.

Joe: Check out Bread at 42 County Road 250 (near Florida). It's an awesome bakery where they use only all-natural ingredients. Try the Sow Your Wild Oats cookies. I really wish they'd ship those cookies - I could live on 'em! *They only take cash.

Also, Stone House Subs on 12th St. has fantastic sandwiches. You can get sandwiches and then go sit in the park to eat lunch.

There's a decent spot to swim right off of 550 (Main) behind the City Market. Turn on 32nd and go past the side of City Market. Cross the river and take your first left. Park along the road and walk north along the river bank until you find a spot you like.

Downtown Durango is great for window shopping and sight-seeing.

If you're travelling with dogs, Durango has the best dog park in the *world*! It's literally acres of land and is bounded on one side by the river. Dogs (and people) can swim, run, hike, and hang out happily for hours.

Have a great trip!

I climbed Cascade this weekend and saw people jumping off the waterfall. They didn't have any issues with the water level just the temps!

There is a lot more bouldering in Durango than Sailing Hawks and Turtle Lake. CHeck out Ian's new guide if you want to see some new stuff.

I'd recommend Doughworks for breakfast- best burritos in town for sure! Its close to the trailhead for Sailing Hawks as well.

Skyeler -

I was considering getting the book when I hit town. Which areas would you recommend?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
