Did you lose something at Middle Earth . . .

A pair of socks and some sunglasses are down there by the base of planet eater. I saw them today, but forgot to pack 'em out. So if it's yours, and you want it, you now know where to look.

Also, whoever was climbing Delirious and ticked most of the top holds with rediculous sized tick marks, you forgot to brush them off. I know it's hard to hear, but some people don't want to look at that shit. If you're gonna use tick marks like gym tape, either stay in the gym or carry a brush and clean up after yourself.

You funny guy Brent. I like those ticks they help me onsight stuff. We are still going to the Orifice despite no longer needing the ticks I left on Coup De' tat. I promise I will brush them off next time up.

The sunglasses were left by one of my friends and are just a cheapo pair from Walmart. Anyone who wants them is welcome to take them. Don't know about the socks or tick marks.

i lost my dignity there. if you see it, please let me know. it's not very big so it may be hard to spot.

I'm glad to know someone is policing these ticksters. It is truly a hard foul to our climbing areas. I think tick marks are the worst of the worst, unlike glue you can see from the ground and chain draws.

Give me a break.

I prefer arrows and drilled holes for comfort. Outside holds can be so taxing on my hands.

PS - I've lost my dignity at Middle Earth plenty of times.

I'm not condoning gluing (reinforcing?), or fixed draws either. That's the FA's business, and something that is out of 'our' hands (especially gluing). Tick marks, on the other hand, are definitely something you can control. If you want to throw ticks on all the holds, that is your deal. I'm just saying if you gonna take the time to tick every hold you plan on using, than take the time to brush em off when your done. That's all I'm trying to say.

seems reasonable.

tick marks don't really bother me though; what bothers me is when there is so much chalk smeared over everything you can look up from the ground and see every feature of every hold on the route. as an example, take the main wall at milagrosa. it looks like someone rapped in with a bucket of bleach and painted every feature on the wall. sweet jesus.

Yeah I have been bouldering out here in Red Rocks all summer and some problems are so chalked up and you left with this chalked up nasty black greasy holds. Sad times.

speaking of RR, the black corridor looked hideous (though the climbing was excellent).

I love chalked holds. I am always amazed that people are up there climbing where it looks so unlikely. I really love looking down a route I have just red pointed and seeing all those holds.

Mt. Lemmon as well as the Forks and possibly Granite Mtn. had a no chalk ethic for many years. Paul Davidson and the gang did all those FA's here and at the forks without chalk. He still climbs without chalk.

What bothers me is when the wrong holds are ticked.

Hmmm, I saw a pair of socks at jailhouse wends, maybe they washed down with the rains so if you couldn't find them at middle earth check jailhouse now.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
