Am I crazy?- Dail/Enchanted Tower question

Ok, am I just crazy or was there a large boulder at the base of the Frog Prince wall that is no longer there? I remember a big flat boulder close to the wall and now there is just one smallish pointy boulder far from the wall. Someone help me remember, please!

Hey Aimee, it sure looked more open there this past weekend after you mentioned it. Looking back at this photo,

, from April of this year it appears that the pointy rock has just moved away from the wall a bit. ???

Aha! That rock has definitely been moved away from the base. I wonder who did that and how? Your friend has the same outfit on that she did on Sunday. Must be her lucky tank top. We're going to the dungeon today and El Rito tomorrow. Maybe we'll see you there!

I was hoping it wasn't another Priest Draw incident.

No, it didn't get crushed, just rolled further from the wall somehow. It created a nice flat area at the base that is good for those of us with kids. How old is your baby, BTW, Daryl? Ours is 18 months.

She just turned three. Here's a photo from this weekend... when she's with Mommy, it's all about princess dresses and art. When daddy gets her for the day, it's all about bugs, rocks, mud, dirt, tools, ... you get the idea.

Probably some of those tough dudes that climbs those hard routes right there joined forces to drag the rock away. :) It is nice to have that extra open space in there.
Too bad we missed you all at the Dungeon yesterday but we did get out for some climbing in White Rock. Hope El Rito treats you well!

We have had some serious rains here the past three years. A house-sized piece of Monument Rock (a couple miles NW from the Tower) fell off the pinnacle and fell to the shoulder, and a year later has migrated downwards about 30 yards.

At Box, in the canyon bottom, boulders larger than an SUV are completely gone, Waterfall wall is three feet taller and the parking lot and pit toilet had to be rebuilt.

Three Rivers Canyon is seven feet deeper and the creek is 20 yards wider after Dolly hit.

Do you think it is possible that water could have undercut it?

Ah, you guys are missing the point. Daryl, your daughter is transcendently keautiful (cute-iful?). And holding that gruesome grasshopper...what a gem of a shot!

Thanks Shawn! She looks just like her mom (thank God, hahaha) and lllloooves bugs! I have a couple more pics from that day i'll have to post. I gave her an inchworm last weekend and she carried it around for over an hour before she got bored with it. I can't wait till she starts climbing. A friend gave us her daughter's hand-me-down climbing shoes which she should be able to get into in about a year.

She is adorable! Our little one is 18 months. We should all go climbing together sometime!

I actually had a theory about the rock, that Alf came and blew it up and moved the pieces away so people who remembered it would think they were crazy. But from Jason's pic I see it is the same rock it just moved. Maybe water, but I don't think the slope is steep enough.

My girlfriend and I had heard of a near miss a friend of ours had coming off of the route right above the boulder last year. So, while she patiently waited inbetween my runs on Babies she dug out the dirt beneath the boulder and together we managed to move it away from the base of the wall.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
