Just curious...Why does he choose to wear a helmet for the gear lead?

Great observation, Adam. I have two theories: 1) Force of habit. As you know, gear climbs are often done around loose rock, especially multi-pitch. So whenever one starts hanging gear on his belt, the helmet goes on without thinking. 2) Speaking only for myself, I have more faith in bolts than in gear (forgive me, all you hard-core trad climbers from way back). So I figure trad climbing is more likely to result in injury, hence the extra protection. Maybe you should post this as it would probably make a good topic for discussion: Who wears a helmet for trad but not sport, and why?
