The High Sierra: Peaks, Passes, and Trails by Secor gives a general overview of pretty much everything. Find something that intrigues you and then use MP or SP.org to find more info on the specific route. But as mentioned, there are a lot of options.
The Good, the Great, and The Awesome by Peter Croft is Excellent. So is Porcella and Burn's Climbing California's Fouteeners. They should be coming out with a new edition shortly. Also, Marty Lewis and Peter Croft are coming out with a new guidebook of Eastside Climbing in June. This will be a huge edition and no doubt of high interest to you looking for longer routes in the .10s and .11s. (See Whitney Portal area, Pine Creek, etc.)
Failing all that, just go up Cardinal Pinnacle, one of the best .9s on the Eastern Sierra.
Thanks everyone. That definitely helps narrow it down. I'm working in Tuolumne this summer--anyone have any recommended excursions for "weekends" in that difficulty range?
incredible hulk, mt. conness, fairview dome (lucky streaks is great fun). It will all fall together once you get here. You could spend all summer in the Meadows alone.
Yeah, totally. Definitely got lots of stuff on the list for TM. I'm just checking out options for more extended excursions that will require more than a day. Thanks for the suggestions!
