We saw a pair of peregrines a couple of afternoons in a row, hunting and soaring in front of Rainbow Wall. The first afternoon we saw them using perches at the second belay of "Sauron's Eye" and in the tree at Over the Rainbow ledge. They disappeared up-canyon (west) when evening came.

We saw them again the next day while climbing "Bird Hunter Buttress" (gives a new meaning to the route name). In the evening as we were finishing the raps, one landed about 40 feet away on a ledge, and took off with a mouse in its talons! The way it looked back over its shoulder at me and headed away with its mouse reminded me of my cat.

Such great birds - I'm so happy to see them returning to the Rainbow Mountain area year after year. They are one of the reasons I'll keep returning, too.
