We had hear rumors of a "fixed" badminton set deep in the hills and went to find them. Instead we found the second and third fins of Little Egypt. At first the approach involved a soggy boulder hop across a pond/stream, then there was a tyrolean that fishermen kept tearing down, then came the footbridge. In any case, it became known as the "most arduous 15 minutes of mountaineering known to man" and we all burned up several dozen pairs of socks making the trek into the Death Zone. Once there, Mussy had a well stocked camp--half and half for morning 'spro, Casteneda to read, and lots of tunes on the box. The Trainspotting and Crow soundtracks along with lots of techno/house/electronica were the flavor of the day. For having basically lived up there for a summer remarkably few images of that time exist.
