I think the only aid of the first ascent was on the final left facing dihedral, no guts on my part using bongs (cams were not around yet or we were to cheap to buy them).

No shame in that - I had a whole rack of cams and still ran out this pitch because I didn't want to take the time to hold on while I fit in pro! Hard with cams, even harder with bongs!
