Per Stewart M. Green: as of the July Fourth weekend, Red Rock Canyon Open Space has been reopened for climbing.

Description
The Whale's Tail is an east-facing wall south of lake. This climbing area provides three sheltered routes when winds are picking up through RRCOS.
This crag faces East, so it drops into the shade by 230pm or so.

Getting There
From the main entrance trail, take small trail that branches northwest just south of lake. There is also a scramble from the north end of the Whale from the path that goes north-south along base.
