Correction, Paz. Areas usually experience management intervention when climbers prove that they are unable to work their issues out among themselves. Topher said nothing about being a "self-proclaimed important person". Those were your words. And instead of just saying that his argument isn't compelling, why don't you elaborate on exactly why you think it isn't?

I don't necessarily agree with Topher's point about Eldo development, although I agree with his opinion that climbers are their own worst enemies - at least to the extent that they spend too much time disparaging one another, and not enough time working together.

Constructive discussions and solutions are what will help to prevent access problems and unreasonable restrictions from outside agencies.

This is getting entertaining, but I'm truly sorry the climb I did caused bad feelings. I honestly thought it was a good addition to Castle Rock. Obviously some disagree, but I did consider the crag, not the rest of Boulder Canyon where such a route would have twice as many bolts.

Coloradan -- carry on with making Boulder the bubble-world we all love so much.

Topher's right, it should be Coloradoan. I never heard this Coloradan crap until after all the Californians moved here.

On the tangent, I say Coloradan. Since Colorado is a Spanish word, you drop the 'O' and add the 'an'. People from Mexico and Mexicans, not Mexicoans. People from Colorado are Coloradans, not Coloradoans. I'm sure the list could go on.

What do you call people from New Mexico?

I'm glad to hear some people are having fun on the climb. Grading at Castle Rock? Something sandy most likely. I was thinking it would be straight 5.11 at Castle Rock - probably .12b at the Sport Park - but I don't know. I hadn't named it, but now I'm thinking "Storming the Castle"

Why the F*** do people keep bolting everything??? Soon all of our most precious rocks will be filled with bolts and look like SH**!!!!! What happened to natures code of conduct??? What you pack in, you pack out!! Isn't that the rules!! I do agree if we continue to deface the little bit that our government tries to protect, their eventually just going to turn around and sell it because it defeats the purpose and waist's their time and our tax dollars!! Why don't the State just sell it and make a profit and build homes on it if that's what you are trying to achieve!! Let's think about our actions before we proceed with doing them, because sooner or later we'll be left with nothing!! They try to preserve these areas for a reason! Once we give them a reason to not protect them anymore, trust me they will stop! Then what are we left with??? Besides all of that, are people too scared to go out and set their own protection??? STAY IN THE GYM IF YOU CAN'T STEP UP!!! STOP DEFACING OUR ENVIRONMENT!!!!! There are enough bolted routes out their to climb!! If you have done them all then think about taking your skills to the next level and keep it TRADITIONAL!!!! Quit being a bunch of PU$$*#$!!!! I'm out of this stupid forum!!

I can't rescind my earlier comment about certain rocks being sacred, but I am willing to defer to experience. I never met TD, but nevertheless I trust his opinions with regards to bolting. Hopefully the new route is a valid addition and won't lead to a proliferation of lesser-quality clip-ups at CR.

Alright, I'm sure this thread will be endless! So I am going to stop now (After this post,HA HA!). I just want to know what's the resolution to this forum? Do we bolt every route we come across? Who picks and chooses which routes get bolted or not? Where do we draw the line? Who plays Deity or the Higher Power in this situation?? To respond to the pine beetle, are we talking man made destruction, or nature playing it's course. If I could control that beetle I would, because I love skiing between beautiful living trees. Now as to bolting routes and destroying rock, I can control that. I may have sounded like some environmental freak, but I'm not. I do agree that bolts are truly not affecting the environment but it's appearance, so I do apologize how I came off. I was just trying to get people worked up over the sport climbing issue, because I love to see how people will react. I sport climb myself, but I don't place bolts. It sure did get some panties in a bunch though, HA HA!!! I was just kidding about the GYM!! So just calm the F**K down!! I am sure enough has been said about this topic, so this is my last response. We could argue and debate for ever and never come to a resolution or agree on anything. I think that this dead horse has been beaten enough. People are going to do whatever they want, because no one will stop them. I have already lost track of the actual point in this thread! So let's stop wasting our time and start a new forum on something more positive like climbing Coal Creek Canyon. Does anyone climb down there??? It looks nice, but I can only find very little info on routes and if it's legal to climb down there(private property lines).
