Description Suggest change

At one point, this was listed under Monitor Rock. To help with organization, we'll create a separate listing for this rock.

This is a small crag which is located near Outlook Rock on the northeast side of the road along CO Hwy 82. It has a pleasant slab with at least a couple routes.

Getting There Suggest change

This crag lies west of Twin Lakes, just past the Parry Peak Campground. There is a small quarry off the north side of the road. It is about 1-2 miles east of Monitor Rock on the east side of Independence Pass.

Per George Bracksieck: the turnoff to reach Black Slab and Outlook Rock is 2.5 miles west of the village of Twin Lakes. Driving west on CO Hwy 82, immediately after passing the entrance of Parry Peak Campground (on the left), turn right onto a gravel road. After about 100m, turn right onto a narrower road. Black Slab is hiding up in the forest to the south. DON’T continue on the main gravel road to the quarry. You’ll never find Black Slab from the quarry, as the guidebooks say to do. Park at the quarry ONLY if you are going to Outlook Rock.
