Amputated right above the distal knuckle, she can still flex the knuckle, and she was climbing again before her stitches were out. Happened on the 16th pitch of Lurking Fear. Topped out and spent the night, got her to the E room 28 hours after amputation.

Is there a backstory or a link to one that I can read? I really want to know how the finger was lost climbing...

The short version of the story....... I am space hauling the bags (meaning i am directly weighting the unloaded side of the haul rope), bags become stuck under a roof, I lower myself down until I can swing them out from under the roof, as I do this Juli arrives at the belay and wants to help with the hauling, she grabs the loaded side of the rope to assist me in pulling the bags out from under the roof, bags come free and my weight on the unloaded side pulls rope through the Protraxion and pulls her hand with it. Cam is engaged and it pulls the end of her finger off. It almost pulled the next one off also.
