Currently the the US Fish and Wildlife Service is reviewing the Comprehensive Conservation Plan and reviewing activities for compatibility. Contact the Access Fund or the Wichita Mountains Climber's Coalition for more information on how you can get involved in keeping the tradition of climbing safe in the Wildlife Refuge. Please do not litter and observe all regulations. We had to fight to regain access at one time, and we don't want to lose the privilege again. Local ethics and refuge regulations are that no bolting is permitted unless expressly authorized by the park. Leave the hammer and nails at home, no fixed gear please. Everything will go clean.

Description

This area has the highest concentration of really good boulder problems. There are some highballs and some low balls but they are for the most part fun. On problems like Pride of the Jungle the landing slopes into the rock sharply from the otherwise flat landing. Be sure to stuff the gap with pads and lay some over the top.

Getting There

This area is a little tricky to find unless you know where you are going. Keep walking down the trail past the Blackout boulder at some point the trail will dip into a boulder field walk though the easiest way possible (down the boulder field a bit, and eventually cross to the other side) follow the trail thorugh the trees for a bit longer and you'll see a large boulder on the left. there should be a small trail that leads to the base of Jungle Vader (the large roof with some chalked up holds. If you head up the slab and see a tall face with a flattish landing you'll be in the thick of it all.
