Hey, I am told that there is an 800 or so foot ice climb route in Gunnison. Can someone give me the scoop? Kevin

Near Gunnison, there is a climb that has more than 800 ft of ice climbing, Curecanti Monster. I'm not sure it's worth all the effort, unless you like that sort of thing. I've heard of stories of something bigger forming down there, like 1500 ft? Addendum: p 284 of J. Roberts' Colorado Ice has a suggestion that Gandalf's Beard can form all the way down to the river. J. Roberts' Colorado Ice Vol. 1 p. 109 suggests no one has done this in its entirety. Any more info?
Someone should farm ice in the Black Canyon, maybe just dump all of the Blue Mesa Res water over the lip. You could get something well over 800' doing that.
