What an awesome photo! I would love to have a larger print of that... I drove through that valley so many times during my years growing up in Reno. It reminds me of a drive across the highway there one winter evening many years ago: there were thick but white, passive storm clouds rolling down over the Sierras (as they so often do), but containing areas of large patches and holes straight through the cloud cover. One gap was very high up in the clouds above Slide Mountain and Mt Rose's crest, but through some optical illusion (perhaps smaller patches of cloudstuff deeper and farther inside the gap of clouds), it appeared as if the mountainside could still be seen through this hole, making them appear incredibly higher and closer than they really are--downright monstrous! The shift in what I perceived as their reality was so startling it was completely unnerving for a few seconds. I will never, ever forget that sight....

About half of the time I see a photo on the front page and say WOW, and then click on it... it turns out to be a phot by Blitzo.

Thanks for giving me pictures to gawk at!
