Boulder-area rappel training site?

I want to take my kids up the Third, but I need to get them some rappelling experience first. I'm looking for someplace nearby that they can practice a small controlled free rappel.

Thanks,
Jim

The Gregory Canyon Ampitheatre sounds like just what you are looking for. The rap from the eyebolt on the west bench would be good. I learned to rappel here when I was 8 years old.

Can I get a bit more beta on where that is? I looked at the Amphitheater routes on here, and I see the West Bench Dihedral. Near the top of that?

The eyebolt is above the route "Direct West Bench". This is to the south of the West Bench Dihedral (or to the left if you are facing the rock). You can walk around the back to set up a rap or top rope. There is a good drawing in Rossiter's Flatiron guide. If you are in the Amphiteater walk south to the trail and then around the second pinnacle to the west bench. Hope this helps.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
