Wonders of the Open Road: A Coast-to-Coast Bicycle Expedition Across Europe and the Ascent of Mt. Elbrus (the highest peak on the continent of Europe) - $5 admission (for Colorado Cancer Foundation)-
In May 2006, Stan Havlick, Rick Compton, Mike Thompson and Shane Cole dipped their back wheels into the North Sea, off the Atlantic Ocean on the Northwest Coast of the Netherlands. Two months and nearly 3,000 miles later, they dipped their front wheels in the Volga River adjoining the Caspian Sea. Their ride took this dedicated cycling team through the rural regions of the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. The team then continued on through Ukraine into the remote area of Russia where they finished their expedition in Astrakhan on the Volga River next to the Caspian Sea. This was the completion of a 14 year quest to cycle coast-to-coast across all six bikeable continents of the world. Join us as Stan shares his tales and slides of this extraordinary adventure and unique cultural experience. Show starts at 8:00.
