Ice Climbing Suggest change

There are at least 3 ice climbs near the Moffatt Tunnel. 2 are close to the tunnel, they are South-facing. One is across the valley on the south side, north-facing...some folks have been assisting the ice. I've climbed one. Rob Savoye had stuff on his website on the south-facing stuff.

Most ice climbers will find this are not worth the effort. For those who enjoy a bit of sniffing for ice, there is a tiny bit of scent here.

More recently, some steeper ice bits have been found.

Getting There Suggest change

Go to Moffatt Tunnel which lies West of the Peak to Peak Highway connecting Nederland and I-70. From the town of Rollinsville, wander west.

Per Mark E Dixon: from the town of Rollinsville, take Tolland Road west until it ends at a large parking lot. Follow the main South Boulder Creek trail till a trail junction just past the tunnel complex. Go left downhill towards the creek till you reach a cabin, go upstream 10-15 yards, then cross stream, and switchback up the hill to the cliff hidden above.
