Description Suggest change

Xenolithic Boulder is a 20 ft. tall, blocky chunk of stone that sits mostly alone in a sandy area near the base of a hill. The SW face is composed of gorgeous black swirled Gneiss intruding fine grained granite. This face is peppered with jugs, and overhangs around 30 degrees. The SE face is a glassy slab with a headwall looming above. The N and S faces are slightly grainy with lots of black intrusions. Roughly 15 problems exist on this boulder, mostly in the .9 to V1 range. The classic being the brilliant black overhanging arete called Psyche.

Getting There Suggest change

Fron the main road, look for a paved turnout on the North side of the road near the mouth of Loveland Canyon, a very faint dirt road leads from here to the mouth of the canyon. On the left just before the mouth of the canyon is a hill, Xenolithic Boulder is in front of this hill, near the base. Approach is about 15 min.
