I bought the book. I have little experience climbing in all of the areas listed-- I have climbed Moby Grape at Cannon, and that's it! So I can't vouch for the book's accuracy. But it is a vast improvement over the prior edition of Secrets of the Notch. So much more information and lots of areas covered, some of which have never been documented before. I am salivating over a lot of the stuff in the book and hope to make several visits to NH this year.

One glitch that I hope the author may be able to correct on future printings (if there are any): the star ratings were left off of the routes in a couple of the chapters, including the Franconia Notch chapter. So although the key at the front of the book mentions that the highest star rating is reserved for uber-classics like Whitney-Gilman, when you actually look at the routes on Cannon there are no star ratings for any of the climbs. But you can get an idea of which climbs the author thinks are the best ones from the descriptions.

Didnt you just release a new Rumney guide a few years ago?

The unspoken rule at Rumney is that a new guide book must be put out every 500 bolt installments.

Ya,,I got a copy last week and was a bit suprised since I didn't do that much in the Franconia area.

Maybe the next edition will get the Captain in?

If any of you folks are within striking distance tomorrow to the Littleton/Lisbon/Franconia New Hampshire area, come to the Book Release party:

Dave Sharrett on the Falcon Wall, Franconia Notch Sate Park, New Hampshire.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
