I just got a meniscus repair surgery so my goal for 2017 will be to get through rehab successfully and, in the meantime, to get super strong in all the muscles I am actually allowed to use! Anyone with me?

1. Start leading trad 2. Lead a Seneca 5.10 Figure set the first goal pretty easy, then give myself the rest of the year for maybe getting the second part. Also just climb more and more outside.

I like threads like these. Good for motivation. Keep them coming. Early spring: Nabisco Wall Spring: Rostrum clean, clean damnit Early summer: Nose or Lurking Fear Late summer: Hulk, Merriam, or Evolution don't care which Fall: Astroman without feeling like a hit by a truck after Bonus if: - Climb at the Needles or Shuteye
- Climb at JTree
- Climb in Tuolumne

Trying to be less grade-focused. Here's 2017: #1 Spend more days on rock this year than last #2 Climb with more awareness, especially when feeling fear #3 On-sight Modern Times (5.8+) #4 Become a non-gumby at crack climbing #5 Stay healthy #6 Flash a 5.12 sport route Long-term: #1 Move closer to the mountains #2 On-sight most 5.12 sport routes in most styles #3 Free a big wall #4 Contribute to climbing access initiatives in a meaningful way

1. Lose a bunch of weight. 2. Gain a few grades inside. 3. Get out to a crag at least once a month. 4. Get a bouldering pad.

I'm trying to redpoint at least one 5.12 every month of the year. So far so good. For me the crux is not getting injured.

More Towers! Devils Tower (hopefully many routes) Jah Man! The Rectory if I'm feeling Frisky Kor Ingalls (did the North Chimney a few years back) Petit Grepon Spend more time in the Creek and Eldo Get over my distaste for offwidth (or at least try)Lookin at you Vedauwoo... Generally lead more trad at higher grades. Breaking into Mid .10s. And lead Some .11 sport. Overall Climb as much as I can, get outside, make new friends, and have a good time!

1. Redpoint a 5.11 sport route. Unless I do that in Red Rock in a few weeks, it'll be A Red Recollection which shut me down late last year. 2. Suck it up and actually send Big Bud. 3. Up my trad grade. I've got a few 5.7s done but if I can get past the head game, 5.9 or 5.10a should be well within my physical abilities. 4. Real multipitch. This will probably be the easiest, as I'm already planning on getting on at least one multipitch climb at Red Rock. I've broken up a couple of single pitch trad climbs into two pitches for giggles but I want to get high off the ground.

1 - Do first alpine climb 2 - Do first trad climb 3 - Reduce fear of falling all within my overall long term climbing goals of "have fun and see cool places"

#1 Climb, train, play healthy and spread stoke. #2 Climb more in The Black Canyon, specifically The Scenic Cruise, Movable Stoned Voyage, Journey Home, Russian Arete, Escape Artist, Etc. Etc... #3 Plan and do a 20-30 day international trip for alpine rock this August for my 50th. Italy? Switzerland? Albania? Advice on ideas appreciated. bridge wrote: #4 Contribute to climbing access initiatives in a meaningful way And this ^^^^^ and contribute my time and money to conservation and preservation initiatives so that our wild places remain wild for future generations. Cheers!

These are literally my top three goals this year, as well. That and climb V4 outdoors, and V6 inside. Let's do it!

On the calendar for this year: Dragontail Peak, Gerber-Sink (IV WI3+ M4) Rainier, Kautz Glacier carryover to DC (First Rainier route) Baker, N Ridge (III AI3) Mt Goode - NE Buttress (IV 5.5) Mt Stuart - Direct North Ridge (IV 5.9+) Torment-Forbidden Traverse (IV 5.6) If I can tick these off, I will have a very good year. Of course, there will be a sprinkling of alpine rock weekends at Washington Pass.
