It's likely in. Just always a question of how bad do you want to climb ice vs. a nice long slog over loose snow covered talus. Keep an eye on that avy forecast too.

Sundial is in but the snow is deeeeeep...like areas of armpit deep. Not recommended unless you want to skin up there and either climb in ski boots or bring your other boots along.

I want it bad Garret, I always want it bad, real bad...that's why real men drive three hours for 11' of delaminating ice...it's called mental disintegration or determination or something...like the dude who was up on GWI today...dedication...that's it.

On that topic how is GWI looking? Anything forming up there?

Driving into Uintas from Evanston side is done, gate was still open yesterday, but we turned around at Sulpher CG where the snow was up to the doors on my jeep. We went around to Kamas and were able to drive up to Cobblerest Falls, but I think it will be done shortly.

Real men don't even climb ice, they just spray on mountain project about how the ice isn't even good enough for them to climb this season.

PSA I want to alert folks about this post from the Avy Forecast Center: utahavalanchecenter.org/blo…

as it will impact folks in both LCC and BCC accessing ice climbs as well as other skiing/climbing/mtnerring in the Canyons.

At the same time, I want folks to know that the SLCA is aware of the procedures and are, as well as others working with the Forecast Center and UDOT to modify them as there are several parts that are clearly not going to work.

Please do not reply to this post. If folks want to discuss this new procedures please do so in this thread : mountainproject.com/v/new-a…

Thanks Allen, I was wondering what the status of ice climbing during the closures would be. Let us know if we can do anything to help alter the closure rules to allow ice climbing when they are not firing anywhere down by the LCC ice. I think clearly a blanket closure is a little overzealous.

Anyone know if highway 150 coming from kamas is still open and /or drivable?

#TeamEasy made the trip down to Joe's and stopped over in Huntington to check on things. We ran into locals from Black Diamond and Liberty Mountain at the base, super great folks that are getting out and getting it done. Here are some photos and observations:

Dirt-Cicle: barely connected but, could go to the bold.

Huntington:
- Warm Weather - looks to be in from the road, extremely aerated
- Coates Corner - the pillar looked thin (not the usual bulge that you see) but, is connected. The route was extremely aerated, suggest letting it grow for a couple more weeks.
- Left Field - NOT IN
- Center Field - Super aerated, top-out looked like it was melted/melting out

Joe's Valley
- Deadbolt - The curtain looks to be 15%-20% formed, didn't verify if it was touching down. The river is not frozen.
- Spear of Fear - Long way away from touching down :-(
- Melty Way - Not a stitch of ice
- CCC - Pitch One was in, the upper pitch is connected (albeit not more than 18" in diameter at the top of the pillar) but, the top is verglass and would not hold weight.
- Donor - We were told it is forming but, is still a long ways from connecting
- Lake Mary - Using binoculars, it looked like 3 of the 4 main routes were in.
- Dog Routes - Using binoculars, looked like they may be in but, nothing definitive.

According to UDOT:
Anticipated closure is December 7th, 2016.

As far as I can tell, right now it's still driveable, gates open.

Climbed Portal 7 today....The gate at Hwy 150 was open and road passable in 4 x4....more Ice to be had for the bold, but MP rumor is that gate closes tomorrow.

Anything in Provo or the Cottonwoods? Don't make me drive to Ouray please UT, give me some more Ice time here.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
