Was kind of hoping Kelly would take it down to the wire, but good job Mick...coming through under pressure.

Christian,I missed the live feed but will try and catch the highlights on Surfline or Magic Sea Weed.
I went out to Jaws to shoot some photos.
I was to late to catch the really good stuff.
There were 30 paddle-in guys in the line up this morning and it was quite a show. I did get some of the later action though.I got some paddle-in, kiting, and tow-in.
Kai Lenny had to be air lifted out due to a nasty cut on his foot.
I haven't checked what is on the camera yet.
On my way home I shot Hookipa with only four guys out.
I think some of those might be really good.
It's real big here on the north shore to day.
I imagine Pipeline was all time today.
Tomorrow is predicted to be smaller and maybe I'll get a session myself.

Yesterday was real big around here.By the time I got out to Jaws the wind had got on it and most all the paddle in gang had gone in.
There were still some kite board and tow in guys out.I also shot some stuff at Hookipa and Lanes. Looks like we have more wave activity in store for next week. Game On!

I'm thinking of taking a 2 or 3 week learn to surf trip to Hawaii. I also want to try to make some business contacts (architecture) so that I can eventually gain a foothold on the islands. Any recommendations on a good spot on Maui or Oahu? Considerations would be somewhere with access to decent beginner waves (not quiteeeeee ready for the Pipeline yet), inexpensive accommodation (if such a thing exists in Hawaii) - camping would be just fine, and some sort of town close by (restaurants, groceries, etc.). Maybe also somewhere not completely crowded where a non-local could get some waves...I'm certainly not good enough to get in some lineup and assert myself. If anyone out there is interested in the same thing I would be up for possibly meeting up for some portion of the trip. Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul, That's a pretty tall order for two/three weeks.
But I am sure you will have fun. Might as well face it quality dirt bagging doesn't exist that I know of at least on Maui.
You can PM me personally and I will tell you what I know about how it goes down on Maui.
I can tell you this there are probably more opportunities for employment and entry level surfing on Oahu. Not that they don't exist here but it's probably harder. Many folks really dig it over there and they have climbing as well. What time of year do you plan to do this?

I had a delightful surf session this morning in my back yard here on the north shore of Maui.
The waves had dropped to a relatively manageable size. Although the bomber sets did roll through from time to time. You just had to keep your eyes open and not get caught on the inside.
The water was warm and as clear as I have ever seen it.
There were only four of us in the line up and we all got our share of nuggets.

check out the video that some of my friends made out at Jaws this week end.

On the evening of the 9th I was driving by Hookipa and noticed that there was a group out at Lanes and they were just ripping!

Thanks Christian it,s refreshing to know that some one is actually interested and paying attention. The stuff I shot the next day is way better. I will post some of the images from that file pretty soon.
