Hi everybody, This Friday afternoon, we'll be doing some trail work In Eldorado Canyon State Park. This is official park work and the park is asking for our help with this ongoing project which will repeat on the 4th Friday of every month through October. This is out-of-time because it is an extra session. The trail up by the Green Spur/Grandmother's Challenge is collapsing, and some re-enforcement work is being done there to shore it up. Starting at 3PM at the lower lot, some folks will be heading up the hill to that area to do some work on it. Anyone can show up at any time there at the base of the climbs later to help. The work is fairly physical, mostly involving hauling rock singly or fill material in buckets and filling gabions, the wire "cages" like are used West of the Bastille. This means that you can get your fill in just a few hours of work if you want to, and even if you show from 5:30 to 7 or something, your contribution would be significant. Please RSVP to me with your estimated time of arrival if you think you can show up. We'd love to see your smiling faces! If anyone wants to climb a pitch or two afterward, I'll have a rope and rack with me, so bring your harness and shoes.

I will also be there, naturally. Mike McHugh is running the show, so he'll be there.

We're at 10 with the Email RSVP's I've got. If we can hit 12 people there and counted, I'll provide a round of beers after the work is over. Please remember good footwear and work gloves.

If my work gets cancelled, I'll show up for sure. Can someone bring me a pair of work gloves to borrow? I'm moving and all of my stuff is packed up.

this wasnt my first trail building thing- I did notice two things of interest- well maybe a few more. 1. This is a great opportunity to cross train a. picking up rocks and throwing them in a bucket doesnt exercise typical climbing motions b. taking the filled bucket to the gabions or wherever requires good motor skills and heavy duty core control- sure you could hang out and not carry many buckets- but if you want to get a good workout in- you can carry more until exhaustion 2. you dont need to carry your climbing gear up to enjoy the view- the view of the sunset splashing light over at peanuts wall was remarkably- I cant think of when it hasnt been from up there except for tonight after a good workout 3. pretty much what was built today is going to be there a long time- if you get injured, quit climbing, never ever want to climb rewritten for the 100th time you can say you contributed to building that up. hey this isnt easter island or cheops, but this is a heavily used area that needs help and all that rock we moved tonight should be there for atleast 10 yrs or more 4. Tony will buy the first pitcher of beer even if I goad him into climbing after rock hucking
thats all I got. if you climb in eldo you can pick up a 5gallon bucket of rocks. its time well spent
