We are having some EPIC surf conditions here on da rock as well.
I've surfed till dark the last few days.
Trades are scheduled to return by the weekend and more reinforcements in the swell. Game On!

I just received this e-mail from Sam Bittner!
I'm very excited to see such an enthusiastic resurgence in competitive wave sailing in this country!

Hello Everyone!
I have launched the website for the American Windsurfing Tour! Yea! This tour is not to be missed with 5 stops around North America for wave sailing contests.
After organizing the successful 2010 Pistol River Wave Bash, I wanted to go even bigger for 2011, so here you go!

Waddell, Pistol River, Punta San Carlo (warm water), Outer Banks N.C and then finnishing at Ho'okipa...

It would be a gas just to sail all those breaks in a season.

Cool post/link Olaf.

Oh yeah BTW...
Yah hear, I scored a Hobie 16. It came on a trailer, two suits of sails one Main in need of a large repair in the lower panel but the other set is still quite serviceable. All parts present and accounted for with the only exceptions being main and jib sheets and trap harness'. It has dbl trap wires.
On top of the boat was an older production sailboard. It is around 10' with dagger board. The sailboard is missing a mast and base as well as skeg. The boom set was present but the one sail with it is trashed due to UV. If I am lucky my old 'Hot' slalom sails are still viable and I can get a buddy to ship them from were they are stashed in Puna.

So I got all that ^ for $100.00
Woot - I am going sailing in the desert soon.

trundlebum it sounds as if you scored big!
You'll be ripping the desert big time!

On a more sober note we just lost one of our most dynamic warriors!

RIP Andy Irons !

Check out the image that I took of my girlfriend Karen Lang kite jumping in "Surfer Today" on line magazine!
Some days the press can be kind!

Wow Olaf:

Keep'm coming. Great shots.

The one from Long's FB page brings back many a memory of rock hopping at Ho'okipa on big days or just plain jumping in to paddle out at places on North Shores.

trundlebum,Great to hear from you dude!
Our winter season has been great so far. I'm on the water ether surfing or wave sailing a lot.
Our little launch has been over run by visitors from The Gorge and all over Europe on the smaller days. The bigger days it's still just the core local group.
We've had several megga swells resulting in some monumental seshes. The last one that showed up was a vigorous and mean west swell. I woosed out and opted for the security of the wave shadow at Kanaha. I must admit that I was disappointed in my decision in that it was pour wind and wave conditions and very crowded. I felt as if I was competing for waves that I would have never gone for in my usual arena.
My goal is to stay healthy this season even if it means missing some seshes when I feel the odds are stacked against me.
On another subject trundlebum, Did you know my friend John Rosholt?
He and I did allot of climbing in Colorado many years ago and some early first ascents at Red Rocks. He had been missing for 5 years and only recently his remains have been found in Black Velvet Canyon.(RIP Johnny Rotten)
My friends are planning a climbing trip to RR this winter and I have been invited to join them. It would be cool if we could team up for a pitch or two if things pan out.
How about one of your classic posts soon?

Olaf:
I did not know John.

I am very glad for all his friends and family that the mystery has ended. It must have been very difficult, the 'not knowing' what happened or if he was perhaps O.K.

I have never heard a disparaging word about the man.

You better rope up with me if you make it here !

Big west swells -
Don't forget, if it gets huge and it's pure or mostly westerly...
The south side from Kihei on down often is fab surfing waves with glassy water and most of the hot shots are on the N.shore looking for glory drops.

"How about one of your classic posts soon?"

A little bust lately, been getting some great climbing in.

Tuesday: Group Therapy, White springs/Angel Food Wall 5 hrs car-2-car
