Tree Problem V4 6B  California : San Francisco Bay Area : ... : Parking Lot Rock
The Tree Problem sits on the uphill side of The Parking Lot Boulder, strangely enough no where near a tree. Climbing is sustained, and many approaches can get you through the problem depending on your height and finger size. Top out over the top after 8 or so hard moves and a good rest in the middle....[more]   Browse More Classics in California

The whole of Castle Rock looks like interesting and fun bouldering...I want to check it out while here in Cali for another three weeks. Any other SF Bay Area suggestions? I'll be getting on both Bouldering and Sport.

be careful camping here. apparently the "backcountry" campground has a curfew (how a bacountry campsite has a curfew I dont know)and you have to be at your site at dark. I actually got banned from the park for 24hrs once for missing my curfew and the ranger threatened that he could take me to jail. The boulders looked awesome but unfortunately never got to climb them because of getting banned. The ranger was a jerk and ive heard about similar happenings. this was a few years ago so hopefully the park isnt run this way anymore but just keep a heads up

I find that the whole castle rock bouldering section on MP is very disorganized and full of mis-information. Im wondering is someone in the higher ups can reorganize and omit some misleading categories. For example, there should only be one link to all the indiividual boulder problems at indian rock.

Hey Z, I'll help and move the bouldering areas currently on the * Sanborn-Skyline Bouldering page to here.

Sweet! that helps. further consolidation would help with the individual areas too. but thats a bit more complicated to explain.

I disagree with this change, although I think it is a move in the right direction. There should probably be a sub menu under "Castle Rock Area Bouldering" that includes, Castle Rock State Park, Sanborn-Skyline State Park (Indian Rock), and Aquarian Valley. As these are different areas/parks.

I often run into confused people looking for problems and I tell them it is across the street in the other park.

I'll get to working on an Indian Rock map and double checking the GPS coordinates.

Despite the accuracy of referring indian rock to sanborne skyline, it creates confusion because the sanborne skyline area is a large and elongated parcel of land. indian rock/summit rock/ biddles for example would be considered the same area when they are vastly different in terms of location. Also climbers talk and know about castle rock. The rest of the world does not refer to it as climbing at sanborne/skyline. I feel imposing this accuracy is unecessary and misleading. general areas under the category castle rock bouldering should be as follows: castle rock main, indian rock, aquarian valley, biddles, klinghoffers, summit rock area. There are some other sidelying areas that deserve major area consideration but I feel that keeping to large desrcipt locations is the way to go. Lets keep it simple folks.
