Aug 18, 2023 · Lead / Flash. Katie Kish's first-ever multi-pitch route! Finding the base of the climb was an adventure next to the water. We got to the base at around 7:30am and were climbing by 8:00am. I led the first two pitches, and Katie led the second two to get some practice belaying from above. When we got to the top of pitch 4, a party of three guys was climbing "Playing Hookie," and we had to negotiate with them about how to proceed since our routes intersected. We ended up going up to the left of the roof area/of the official start and finished up with an awesome view on top (near the highlines)! We simul rappelled down the whole way (in 4 rappels) and had a brief moment where Katie and I both together flew off to the right on the overhung area while rappeling due to some uneven ground/open air (that was scary!). Also, this was the first inaugural use of my Rockie Talkies! They were SO useful with the loud water, trucks, wind, and other parties below. Also, the channel we were using picked up other people's communication, which was good to know.
