Sep 5, 2022 · Follow. This route was so good in late season that I vomited on our third bivvy at the top! A large rock nicked the bottom of my crampons as I ran across the waterfall runnel. I managed to run across the other big rock streak between rockfall dumps so I came out in one piece. 1 fun mixed pitch mid-glacier. Craziest ice climbing I have ever done on the ice features and slots. Our 2-3 day trip turned into 6 due to conditions and missing the standard descent turn. w/ Jeff M. Labor Day weekend is probably too late to do this route sanely/reliably these days.

Solid for the grade - would be a proper 5.9+ to 5.10a at the Voo, but sustained and LONG. P3 reminded me how fat & out of shape I am, so bailed 25' in. Revenge shall be mine! Found a cool cl. 3 way to scramble out of the basin on good rock, though ;-P I'll post the track later. w/ Thomas B.

Jul 2, 2022 · Follow. Did after climbing the Direct E Face of Teepe Pillar as a great linkup, hoping to finish w/ Upper Exum. Crux pitch is hard with a pack & ax on your back, but it went clean for both of us ;-P I meant to lead some pitches but lightning came and we just started simuling to get off to Exum above the Golden Staircase. Snow collapsed in a chimney and dropped me onto my ribs onto a rock horn, tearing my intercostals, so that was fun. w/ Kevin
