Getting There Suggestion
Search Kanawha State Park on a GPS. Coming North from Charleston, turn left at the entrance onto Range Rd. Follow Range Rd for about 1.5 miles. You should pass the Ballard Trailhead on right just before the gun range and parking lot. Hike up Ballard Trail until you start to see some big boulders. As you continue up the trail and it switches back towards the top and end this is where you'll see a bigger rock outcropping with all the climbing. Total approach is about a mile.
Would like to add sub-areas for routes within Kanawha. There'd be at least two I can think of for now. "Sassafras Boulders" and "Ballard Trail Overlook".
I recently created another section of Kanawha State Foreston Mountain Project which is the Polly Trail boulders. I'll add the link at the end of this message. I was curious if we could combine these areas as simply Kanawha State Forest instead of being two separate pages. It could be easy to arrange these current climbs on this page into sub sections. Just seeing if that is possible, thank you!
