Drive west from Cody into the Shoshone Canyon and park on the right before the entrance to the first short tunnel. A five minute walk west through the two short tunnels is a bit harrowing with cars whipping by on the highway a few feet from your head, but over with quick.

The old parking lot it back! You can now drive under the first two short tunnels and park right at the base of the Island. There are only about 5 designated parking spots. Be aware that you can only make a right hand turn out of the lot, so it still may be worth your while to park before the tunnels.
