Suggested Page Improvements to Colorado National Monument
Hi, I was at the Monument last month. The camping along Rim Rock drive is now $20/site/night + park entry fee ($10 I think). The camping in Fruita (James M Robb Park) is $18/tent site + $7 park entry fee (!!) We ended up going out to the North Fruita Desert BLM campground for $10/night in the campground (dispersed camping was free).
Can we add a don't climb on wet sandstone warning?
Here is a statement you can use.
RAIN, WET ROCK: The sandstone in the Colorado National Monument is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Gear placement in wet sandstone also poses a safety concern. Please wait for the rock to dry prior to climbing.
