I thought it was scary. He thought it was fun. If you go this way, I advise treading lightly on the fully detached, mattress-sized flake.

Goods starting P4ish after I went too far on P3. Kudos to him for belaying himself through the roof and across a traverse after the rope got stuck in a constriction (with a broken hold, no less!) .

Comments: I agree that a #1 red Camalot is what you want for the horizontal crack towards the top.

Comments: Excessive P2 gear beta: #2 and #3 for lower section, a #4 for the middle, 2 #5s for the offwidth, and a #3 to protect the top out should make it comfortable. You can get a #6 to work at the flare, but it is a little too big. The 2 #5s should negate the need for the #6. Be sure to extend the #3 protecting the topout to let the rope run freer over the bulge below.

Comments: I thought this pitch was really fun. The jamming up to the roof thing is solid even though the rock is a little quartzy (weak). Before firing the roof, get a shake on the jug to the left on the arete - the exposure is quite nice. After the roof, I wanted to go straight up on the left, but there really wasn't any pro, so I came down and traversed right to finish with "Trash It and Move On". This finish is good, but make sure you extend after the roof and on the following bolt or you'll have a fai... more >>

Comments: Climbed this yesterday. It's nice and long. We wanted to summit the whole tower, so I led up above the anchors. You can get a good cam in the undercling above the anchors, but that's pretty much the last good piece. Further up, there's a shitty bolt that I don't trust - maybe an old Star Dryvin that wasn't driven in all the way with the nail bent over. Anyway, even above the bolt, I didn't see gear opportunities so I downclimbed (it looks like there is in the photo, but there isn't). The climbin... more >>
