Comments: James have you started using glue? .. never noticed in the past..If you remember these are not one pitch
sport routes where you can rap down from the top with your pot of glue . They are multi pitch climbs that are done on sight placing pro/bolts on the lead many times one handed ...your pot of glue might give us some very sticky situations. Cheers Paul

Comments: Well Owen glad you survived this death route . I note John Peterson had a very different experince than yourself and found it fun and good for beginners . So I must conclude this type of climbing is just not your cup of tea..and once again advise you to not try any other climbs in this area.. Cheers

Comments: Glad you made it and avoided tripping on your shoe laces . A few tips ..you will find if you hand drill on that rock its likely the bolts will at least spin . This climb and 1000'of fun are perhaps the easiest two climbs on the Reef. If you find these taxing please do not attempt any other climbs on the reef that have a higher grade ...you will be drilling for the rest of your life.I was over seventy when I put up most of these climbs so I understand you are a bit too young to deal with a... more >>

Comments: Agree 4th pitch is committing..I guess you did not climb it ... Friends of mine (Rydalch ) went straight up from P3 as you suggested and found it scary and unprotected ..see comments... Not sure correct on American Death Triangle rap offs ..usually bolts tied off individually? ... bye the way what are the number of Americans that have met their death?

Comments: Nails ..yes I guess I am a bit of a purist !! Actually apart from the invention by Yvon of hard steel pitons being the main cause of rock destruction.. when I started to repeat old routes in the UK I was surprised at the ware on the rock by nut and cam placements. Far more than from the days when for protection soft iron pitons was left in place

Comments: If the aid we used on the Mancus shale towers we climbed on the Palisade Things of Beauty Towers it would help to reduce damage to the climb ... Instead of bird beaks etc that cause a lot of damage when removing ,, we fixed in place 8" x 3/8 nails (spikes) from hardware store then using tie offs. Use of drill with 8" bit helpful .Some of these have been in place for about 15 years and are still in good shape. Makes future ascents less difficult but does reduce any further damage to ... more >>

Comments: Good effort lads .. Ignore that pumped up wanna be one pitch sport climber NS ...First ascents always brings out the nut case who verbally wants to get into the action ... I've met quite a few in my time this guy is classic..They are always the type of climber who feels uncomfortable if a bolt or cam is not right beside them... they just don't like any form of risk..He decided not to climb it ..I'll bet he did ! ... Put him onto my Palisade Things of Beauty ..he can have a go at me.... more >>

Comments: Sorry about that Paul .. It is a bit complicated the way we got off ... However The guy the guy that rope soloed it seems like he rapped back down Ozzy . We were a bit reluctant due to the over hang pitch.

Comments: Yes its a shame that some climbers have a sense of humor ,however the cat and the dog were not providing information. Bye the way who is that in the bushes? ... I just want you to be completely confident that moderates climbers will agree that your new finish is as you say very low 5th class and comparable in difficulty with the easy "1000' Of Fun" climb... as if the climbers just take one rope as you suggest and do not fancy your easy finish they will have big problems ..

Comments: Thanks for your more detailed information ... Perhaps you are being a little sensitive. !!! . I was just concerned about future "1000' of Fun" climbers (usually not high grade climbers) finding your finish as you indicate a moderate 5th class with no protection . (not worth a grade )I hope you are right ?.If that is the case then great it will stop the chore of rapping this climb which is not easy at best of times ... . With regards to some doubtful rock found on these climbs .... more >>

Comments: DtApnea Well done .. Sorry that unlike previous climbers this climb was not to your liking .Hoping you might have some pics of your # 7 "easy" pitch as several pretty strong climbers have failed to climb this finish ...Just wondering how easy was it ? Cheers
