Comments: "If you see a helmet you can be sure the person isn't soloing."

Maybe not. I remember reading an article in the Alpinist about Tim Kemple speed-soloing Moby Grape on Cannon Cliff. As I recall, he wore a helmet. I tried to find the article to link it here. No luck.

Comments: I avoided that 5.8 R/X section by climbing the easier and more protected corner about 15 feet left. I climbed and back-cleaned as I went up, and then walked across the ledge, setting an anchor below the left-leaning crack of CoEx before starting up the route. I later did the 5.8 start on top rope and was happy with my decision to avoid it.

Comments: Thanks for the information, Jim. As Ken Kesey said in Sometimes a Great Notion, "Besides, there are some things that can't be the truth, even if they did happen. "

Comments: I found the start strenuous but straightforward and the traverse to be tricky but well protected. The rest was pumpy, but very doable. I had to take one hang.

On a side note, how exactly did Henry barber just tie another rope on and keep climbing? Wouldn't the knot get caught on his first piece of pro? Did he pull the whole rope through and then have his partner tie the knot? That part has always confused me.

Comments: Fun climb, well protected and, (as many have already said) not too physical or lacking in footholds.

Comments: A great mulit-pitch! Thanks for the beta photos that made finding the start a no-brainer. Fun crack, slab and face moves. Bolted belays. Easy Raps. Fun, challenging at parts, but never scary.

Comments: We toproped this climb after climbing Frustration Syndrome (as I suspect most parties do). While I agree the moves are great, I don't know about the gear. The gear at the crux is there, but above and below I did not see much. While I was able to tr this cleanly, I still don't think I'd lead it.

Comments: Regarding the traverse, I found the feet more than adequate. The spot near the fixed cam was a little pumpy, but not too bad...if you were short, maybe you couldn't reach the feet that I used. (I'm 5.9ish)

If you want to do this route, either pick a weekday or get up early...otherwise, take a ticket and wait in line. This route shares a pitch and a half with Pete's Farewell, as well as the start of the Great Chimney. Plus, parties doing the 5.9 route below the El often finish on the El.

Comments: Brutish! Body english certainly pays off on this climb. Solid jams through the crux and good gear... Good times.

Comments: Fun moves on this one. Hand jams through the roof. Crossovers through the diagonal section and then in-cut holds to the top.

Comments: Great shot...I'm sure that many have stood in that same spot and taken their own shot. I know I've got one just like that somewhere. Such an amazing hike.
