Comments: Not hard at C1 5.8 but got worked anyway. First (real) tower in the Fishers (to make it to the top). Tight chimney on p2. Lots of vert on good bolts (every other). It's disturbing when the bolt is sticking way out from erosion (how much is still in the rock?) Tough roof to get on the capstone and cracks of thunder in the distance. Expansive summit. Breathtaking double rope hanging rap off the capstone. Then right when we hit the ground it started sprinkling and then rained all night. One set of ... more >>

Comments: When you park at the power plant, park all the way on the right in front of the trees and not in front of the buildings.

Comments: If aiding. I found that p6 took .75 camalot more than anything else. P7 took #2 camalot more than anything else. Don't give 'em up.

Comments: The right-facing corner in Vernon's pitch 6 is the right hand side of the massive, yellow roof/wall above your head.

On Vernon's pitch 8, start your traverse right 20 feet below the roof that has a fist crack on its right side.

Comments: Climbing The Bells is 80% climbing and descending a steep trail. It's 20% upclimbing and downclimbing on class 3/4 and a bit of 5 on the traverse. 20% of the blocks you are climbing on are loose so use pushing mantle moves, don't pull. I found these mountains to be far less loose and rotten than the reputation that proceeds them. I carried a 30 meter 8 mm rope and a harness on the traverse from north to south and did two raps from existing new slings and rings. Saved time and downclimbing on cla... more >>

Comments: P2. 35 foot slab can be protected by moving 15 feet to the right and then back left.
P6. Crux -- I chimneyed with my back against the left wall -- then switched to a chimney against the right wall up higher. I am very tall. ;) Climb the large crack above the crux 40 feet to the largest block in the crack. Sling an belay from here.
P7. From the belay, there is a hand crack that goes to the left at head level. Traverse left with your feet in this crack for ten feet and you will see the bolt up and... more >>

Comments: Climbed in 3 pitches with a 60 meter rope. 1) Second with have to simulclimb for about 20 feet to reach the eye bolt at the red ledge. 2) Belay just below where the arete sharpens -- almost the full rope. 3) Just over half the rope will get you to the top of the wall.
