Comments: I've been here a number of times this June - perhaps it is just the mild summer we're having this year, but this slab seems to be shady, dry and free of bugs even when the rest of the park is a swamp.

Comments: The rock quality here is generally excellent, at times resembling the granite on the Swirley boulder.

Comments: Bouldered this up to the top out a few times but couldn't commit - intimidating stuff. This climb will be excellent though.

Comments: Not entirely sure where to start this climb. I started with my hands on good, positive edges a few feet left of the arete, and it felt like a powerful V5. If one were to start a move or two lower in the seam, it would be quite a bit harder.

Very fun nontheless.

Comments: Any idea what the climbs to the right of this line might be? This line was soaked, but I did a climb that started slightly right of it as well as one that started seated in the shallow cave at the bottom right of the boulder.

Comments: Josh, I believe there's a slight correction/clarification to your directions; when you cross the small stone bridge, you're headed West, not East.

Comments: By start holds, do you mean the ones back in the cave? I started far back and traversed left until I could top out on good, chalky holds (visible in photo). That felt like the most natural line, but given the grading in the area, it felt potentially easier than V4.

Comments: This climb feels absurdly hard to me. Not that I'm any expert at 12+/13- rock climbing, but it feels way harder than anything I've tried in that range.

Maybe it's because my knee doesn't fit well in the knee-bar. More likely it's because I'm weak. In any case, fair warning.

Sorry for the terrible quality. This ~15' rock is right downhill from Deadly Pillars; there's a truly incredible (and hard) looking climb up a steep face.

Rock Climbing Photo: Same boulder, right arete.
Same boulder, right arete.

Is this the 'large boulder' mentioned in the description downhill from the pillars? There look to be two really good lines on it, and someone has clearly cleaned it. Still projects?

Comments: This climb is impressive. I thought I would be excited to climb it, but had a change of heart standing underneath with a tiny pad (and tiny spotter).

Has anyone done a sit to this boulder? I figured out beta starting low in the corner, RH on a jug sidepull and LH on a cool pinch on the roof. I didn't succeed in sticking the move into the actual start of Big Short but I was close enough to know it's possible... well, possible for someone.

Comments: This really is an awesome boulder problem; one of the best I've done at this grade.

After seeing the above video I realize I did it pretty differently; instead of making the big right hand deadpoint to the jug, I went into a gaston of the two finger pocket and then went left hand to said jug. Not sure if that is true to the line, or if it changes the grade.

The sit adds awesome moves but IMO they don't make the climb considerably harder.

Comments: Could somebody clarify the difference between the variation and the 'original' climb? Does the original version go left and squeeze between the trees and the rock, or does it finish by reaching right from the triangular hold to the easy crack?

Thanks!

Comments: The most obvious route seems to be a v4, climbing from the huecos up and right through good holds and topping out on bad slopers or sharp edges. Not sure which holds one would use for the v5 variation.

The v6(+?) variation that heads right is sharp and hard.
