The Great Zot (first pitch) into Rewritten. It was dark, so we had no idea. The descriptions work great for both climbs if you ignore the 2nd pitch beta. Whoops!

Comments: Anyone know what the two routes are in the alcove just to the right of Bat Master? Climbed a thin (red/green C3s) crack to a pod, then varied 1"-2" before you had to transfer to the offwidth to the right at the top to reach the anchors, which was really freaking hard and scary. Simple description - the alcove right of Bat Master features two cracks with an anchor in the middle of the slab up high. The right crack starts flared then changes to fingers then offwidth a... more >>

Comments: 2 #3's at the start. 4 #2's if you are comfy on that size, and a #1 for the top and you are as golden as the route. If not solid on 5.10 wide-hand/perfect-hand take an extra 1 and 2.

Comments: Myself and a crew from Sierra Nevada College used to frequent this area in 2002-4. We cleaned and 'developed' many problems, certainly some had already been done, but I'd like to know more about the history of bouldering at this little, now insanely obscure area (due to all the bouldering development in Tahoe).

Walking up the road the first short wide boulder one comes to had two problems we enjoyed working. The first we called Optimus Prime, starting low on a positive rail on the left side of... more >>

Comments: I learned an obvious lesson climbing with a buddy who had done this route before a few weeks ago (even after 14 years). Led the first pitch, he wasn't feeling good about the second after the third bolt, so I lowered and finished it for him. Definitely a fairly large and seemingly not-quite-solid flake required to pull on after the 3rd bolt, second pitch, kind of spooky, but employed desert tactics. It's going to go, maybe not soon, but some day.

Topped out, and soon after Jim Ablao, all around... more >>
