Comments: Excellent route on an awesome feature. We went with the variations to the 1st, 2nd and final pitch, which makes for an awesome direct route. I agree with Sean that it is a stretch to call this route C2+, if you have a full set of offset cams and offset nuts you can consistently get bomber gear. If you are comfortable high stepping you can bypass many of the poor placements. Didn't end up needing to use any hooks.

Comments: I think some rap anchors up there would be a great idea. Although the walk off is pretty easy, it seems to make sense as there are anchors on the second pitch. I looked at a place on the face right above where the boulder with the rope is that could work as a rap/belay for both the left and right variations. Let me know if you want to throw some anchors in up there and I'll go with you.

Comments: As it turns out, you can scope this climb from the North Rim of the canyon. After Pioneer Point, there is a large switchback that passes by Curecanti Ranch. When the road takes a right turn to follow the rim again, park and walk directly toward the rim and you will be able to see it.

I heard a story from a local climber Ian Hatchett that he discovered the climb after talking to a dam worker at Morrow Point, who told them about a huge icefall up the canyon. He and a friend Bob Wojtalik then... more >>

Comments: Found a dog leash attached to a cam on the first buttress today, no owner in sight. Private message to identify and get it back.

Comments: Outstanding climb on some sections of undesirable rock. The exposure and sustained nature makes this a worthwhile venture.

Comments: Does anybody know why there is lumber on top of the rectory. While on top we found a 4ft 4x4 and some other smaller pieces. I know that the lumber on top of Castleton was the result of a car commercial does anybody know why there is similar stuff on top of the Rectory?
