Comments: This thing is awesome! We also did a right version from the start that was probably V5 and good. Not sure if you guys did that?

Comments: That vid is the first time I did it.. I was in the area once again and a boulder moved in the landing and I was able to do it from a move lower, matched on the undercling.. Made it better and a touch harder imo.

Comments: There's a couple more on this boulder.. Baby Grand (V6) start on slopes in the middle and climb straight up above the slanted landing.. Quite good but don't blow the finish. Also Dump Truck (V8) On the far right side of the face, starting from a sit on a slanty, rocky landing, start with a fin hold for the right, and a slopey crimp for the left. Bust a hard punch to the lip then finish the final couple moves of The Piano. Not that great but if you're there why not right?

Comments: I did a direct finish to this, gaining a a sharp gaston then mantling directly over at V7ish. It's kinda fun and now dubbed Fully Automatic.

Comments: I did a sit start to this down and left with a left crimp and a right undercling. A long lock off right off the bat was the crux and it was maybe V8ish. Could be harder for shorter people.. or easier for those with extendo arms.

Comments: So left to right, exposed v2ish, insomnia scary v3,maybe check it out on a rope first, creaker v4, seams fun v1 stand, v2 from a sit to the left, big jugs v0, and the arête is v1, forget the name right now. Group leader around to the left is a very enjoyable v3 or 4 from the sit. Happy climbing and a guidebook for the entire Devil's Lake area is in it's final stages of production, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Comments: I figured I'd throw my two cents in here. I set up a lot of top ropes due to being a guide. I do notice that there are dead trees, frequently near the edges of cliffs. I think I'm not the only one that can put this together. While things are good now maybe this is something that will need to be addressed at some point, hopefully before it really becomes an issue.

Comments: This is a good line, though definitely harder than advertised for me.. Probably V9 and bring a knee pad to ride out the first number of moves. I did it with a big and small pad and fell all over the thing. This deserves more attention. Also the description is wrong, this is definitely not the best roof problem at the lake.

Comments: I don't care either way, though I do think it's a different line.. Sort of. Waffle House is substantially worse, probably as hard or harder, and definitely more dangerous. I talked to old schoolers and I heard something may have been done here, from a strong guy Mike Gasch from Milwaukee. Though I couldn't get anyone definitively comfirm that, maybe Terry can? Zschiesche and Paul both said they didn't climb anything on this face though.

Comments: I climbed a high quality problem on this arete the other day that finishes left on the slab. I started sitting on a rock low on the arete. It's V8, very good, and now is called Astral Projection.

Comments: It climbs a boulder, it's a boulder problem. People have climbed and enjoyed it. You have a strange mentality when it comes to climbing. I sure hope this mentality doesn't become the norm.

Comments: This looks like the best hard sandstone sloper problem in the state to me..? I don't know why some people give first ascensionsts so much shit in the Midwest. Maybe you should put up more problems instead of being douchey little bitches? Someone should have said that a long time ago. I put up with this garbage the entire time I was living in Wisconsin putting up problems. You guys suck. Penis envy? Blah blah blah. You guys are bitches. Haha take that!

Comments: One way or another I think the information for all the starts should be included. The picture is pretty darn good.. I'd leave that up. They will all get climbed because it's a cool boulder. You can't change history, and I think it adds some flare to the boulder.

Comments: Sounds like you added a hard move or two to the basilisk to me. Lower starts happen all the time in bouldering.. I don't see why anyone should be bothered. Sometimes they get renamed, sometimes not... It doesn't really matter either way. It is different though. Now we have another hard problem to go play around on:). And James it does matter damnit! This is Wisconsin bouldering were talking about here, and for governor dodge this is cutting edge stuff!:) And it probably would be V17 if it w... more >>

Comments: Group hug! For the record for the guidebook grades are going to be changed to line up with the consensus. And I do think Born in Blood is one of the harder things I have done it the lake, hence my suggested grade. Maybe this is benchmark V11 here?...what are other benchmark 11's? Are some of the 11's harder? I suspect so. So my idea for the book is to have grades up to V12, the hardest 2-3 will get the 12 grade. I don't think I'm totally off base here either. Thoughts?
