Comments: I found a piece of climbing gear at the base of the cave today. If it's yours and you can name it, color and all, it's yours. Cheers.

Comments: Just climbed this for the third time. Made some personal GEAR NOTES for the next time.
-Cams 0.3-1, doubles 0.5-1, 0.5 was the MVP.
-Placed one stopper the whole time. Still nice to have a few to bail if needed.
-Used the terrain and self to back up marginal belays fixed gear, alpine anchor skills are useful. This is an alpine climb, not a rock route after all.

Comments: Jonathan, sounds like you were on Virgin Wool, So. Platte 5.9+. Two roofs, one with no feet? Straight above two ringed pitons? Virgin Wool.

Comments: The South Cirque has north - east - south facing aspects and has many lines from steep snow to mixed to alpine rock routes. Getting there is harder than other areas on Pikes Peak and thus, you'll have the area to yourself. Explore and enjoy.

Comments: What you should know about the Pike Peak Highway (toll road):

Hours of operation for winter hours (Oct. 1-Memorial day) 9am, gate closes at 5pm. You need to be heading down by 4pm. If you don't get your work done by 5pm, the rangers will close and lock the gate for the night. If you want the gate opened after hours, they charge $500 to come and open it. Otherwise your car stays on the uphill side of the gate overnight. We are not allowed to intentionally park overnight and may be fined.

Comments: The end of first pitch is a bit higher where the rock goes to more consistent pink/red and before the chimney.

Comments: Looks like a great line, but not the Russian Couloir. The Russian Couloir is a south-facing line out of a basin called the Cameron Amphitheater. The basin above Lincoln Falls is the Lincoln Amphitheater with these lines being east-facing. First ascent/descent? Name it.

Comments: Did you take the bottle to Elsinore Brewery, I hear they give free beer for such incidents'. Maybe not for a Coors product but it's worth a try.

Comments: "Tape is Aid" as we were once told. Don't listen to 'em man. I was told by Harvey C. that chalk is aid, I came out of a crack due to my sweaty fingers having not used chalk before this day. 30' fall! I then decided, climbing shoes could be considered aid. I use chalk sparingly, I tape up when I think I'll be needed, and I do wear rock shoes.
