Comments: There is most definitely gear in the V and it is very solid. In fact GunkieMike describes the gear earlier in this comment section.

Comments: Why not add another 30 feet of climbing on to an already great climb. The chimney is quite a bit easier then the rest of the climb but it is surprisingly clean and is still good climbing. You can stop at a ledge 15 feet from the top which is a great place to belay and has a tree with webbing and rap rings or continue to the top and walk off.

Comments: Seth is correct. The pin above the crux section was quite unnecessary and according to the GCC pretty rotted out. The horizontal where the pin was will easily take pro.

Comments: Can't say I ageee with the R rating. I thought the gear placements were plentiful. I brought nuts and .5-3. If you have a 4 bring it as well.

I've heard McCarthy’s Follies but for those that have climbed it Mother F***er certainly seems appropriate. No matter the meaning as others have already stated it is a fantastic climb.

Comments: If you're only interested in the first 2 pitches IMO it would be hard to justify the hike in for that alone. My suggestion would be to find something else in the area to make your day complete. There are tons of options. My partner and I finished our day with a summit of Colden via the Trap Dyke. It made for a long but amazing day.

As for the route I felt if it was roadside it would still be considered a good route, but probably not as classic. Its the adventure and surroundings that r... more >>

Comments: Really enjoyed the route. Pitch 4 which is the traverse was especially fun. 2 things to note though are there is some loose rock on pitches 5-7. There isnt a ton of it but whats there is big. Any one walking out of the canyon or on the lower routes is in the direct line of the rock fall so be careful. Also the route info should be updated to rappel only. The walk off is almost non existent and very hard to find. Your much better rapping since there are a ton of anchors below you.
