Comments: Sexy Grandma is about the closest it gets to sport climbing in the Park. Fun route.

Comments: While there are no "stand out" routes at Lizard's Hangout, it is nonetheless a nice cold day destination. Easy to tick all 11 routes in a few hours. Sun exposure all day.

Comments: Good route, on par with Planet X in quality and definitely worth doing if in the area.

I'll definitely be there. Who else is coming?

Should be a great show!

Comments: I was climbing with Larry this day. We both watched in awe as this guy jumped roughly 40' down into a boulder field, landed, and continued running as if it were nothing. Pretty cool!

Comments: Certainly one of the more classic Pinnacles routes, but "best single pitch of 5.8 in California" might be a bit of a stretch!

Comments: We had an older Supertopo for the route that indicated a hook move on the first pitch and listed the route as 5.7 C2. I'm not sure if this has changed in more recent editions. There is definitely nothing harder than C1 on the entire route and certainly nothing requiring hooking. It is all very straightforward. My partner and I found the crux to be the long approach hike from the Valley floor. Here is my recommended minimalist gear list:

- 3 ropes (we used 2 dynamic and 1 7mil tag line)

Location: California : Yosemite National Park : Yosemite Valley : Cathedral Spires Area : Middle Cathedral Rock : East Buttress (5.10c)
By: M. Morley When: Aug 23, 2008

Comments: Climbed this again yesterday as six rope-stretching 60m pitches, involving a wee bit of simul-climbing and a couple of hanging belays. A 70m would allow you to climb the route comfortably in 6 pitches with more options for good belays.

Comments: I went about half way up this route to retrieve a rope that managed to get snagged on the rap off Birdland. Looked like a nice line.

Comments: Thank you, Ron. Unfortunately, it looks as if the originals for this one might have been wiped out when my hard drive crashed a while back...bummer.

Comments: I used "Autostitch" to make this. Unfortunately, you lose resolution when stitching photos together. If anyone can recommend a better program to use to maintain the resolution, please let me know and I'd be happy to upload the higher-res version.

Comments: Pitches 1 and 2 combine at 185'. Pitches 3 and 4 combine at 198'. From there, a short final pitch (~50') leads to the top and a straightforward walk off.

Comments: While not a destination area in and of itself, Wheeler Gorge is a pretty fun crag to spend a half-day if you happen to be in the greater Ventura area. Bring a dozen draws and watch out for poison oak.

Comments: Dave, perhaps you could post a video on YouTube? I want to be able to get all the moves wired before I go for the "onsight".
